Things to Consider When Applying to Foster
Would fostering an animal fit into your home activity and lifestyle? Do you have appropriate accommodation for specific foster animals? Are you prepared for the possibility of loss of an animal, due to age, illness or weakness? Foster animals also can bring home possible risks from their health and behavior for other animals and people. Your animal will need to have current vaccinations.
While fostered, the animal remains under the guardianship of Victoria Humane Society. As such, we will provide food, dishes, litter, toys, other supplies and veterinary care. We will also provide necessary advice and guidance. You provide the love and friendship!
If we do not have a suitable animal in need, we will keep your application on file and will contact you when one becomes available. Once your application is accepted, we will arrange for a home visit, where we visit your house/apartment to make sure you are set up for success when fostering.
Due to the lack of a shelter, foster applications can only be submitted online. Please note, the foster application process can take several days. We thank you for your patience!

If your application is approved, the Volunteer Coordinator will provide you with a copy of our foster agreement.
Once you have signed and returned the foster agreement, you will attend an orientation session with the Volunteer Coordinator. We will then match you up with a foster animal.
