akbash cross
18 months old
Unknown if good with younger kids good with older kids good with dogs good with cats house trained

Ashe is a 1.5 year old, spayed, gentle giant with legs that go for miles! She weighs just under 75lbs and was born on St. Patrick’s day. Ashe is an Akbash cross – if you are unfamiliar with the breed please check them out.

She is a young dog that has lots of energy and likes to spend time outside burning off that energy and expanding her horizons. If you are looking for motivation or just need a running/walking/hiking partner this fabulous girl will keep you well above your 10,000 steps for the day. Ashe plays great with dogs of all sizes and loves to run with them at the dog park. She’s working on her recall, and seems to have selective hearing when there’s lots of excitement… she is after all still young and training is a fabulous way to bond! She’s practising not jumping up when she sees her people or is excited although she tends to be quite gentle when trying to envelope you in an Ashe style hug. On leash she is a strong girl and will pull on the leash to greet other dogs and to find cool smells, again ongoing training is a great way to establish and enhance a bond with your dog…and done right it is FUN for both of you.

Once she’s had her exercise Ashe is a snuggle bug and will happily sit next to you on the couch and laze the day away. She’ll let you know she’s ready for another walk by finding a toy or chewing on furniture to get your attention. Ashe can be protective of the home and bark or be timid around new people in her space, more expanding of her horizons (aka socialization) is the key. Ashe is practising being home alone for short periods of time but tends to bark or even howl when she’s by herself so if you are in a condo, townhouse or apartment Ashe may not be the right dog for you.

Ashe is great with other dogs, is good with people of all ages once she gets to know you and has lived with cats in the past.

Ashe is going to make a family or a someone very happy. If you would like that to be you, please fill in an adoption application.
