Cypress is a one year old, neutered male yellow Labrador. He is a big lanky boy, weighing in at around 75lbs (and he’s still probably growing). Cypress is truly a big, exuberant puppy in a big dog body. In many ways he is a typical lab pup and he is GORGEOUS. Please do not let those fabulous looks prevent you from reading the rest of his post, this big lovable boy is not for the faint of heart.
Cypress did not receive the attention and training that every puppy deserves, consequently he has some issues that his foster mom is working on…and he has come so far and shows more progress every day! Now Cypress is looking for his very own human who will put the effort and commitment in to get him the rest of the way.
Cypress needs a home where someone will be able to be with him while he works on his separation anxiety. This will take patience as he will bark if he cannot see you. He is not a fan of crates but this too is being worked on and he is up to 10 minutes. He is house trained, has never had an accident in the house but is taken out often or left with access to the secure yard.
Cypress is very food motivated (see definition of Labrador). Although this is great for training, he will counter surf and push towards food. He does not resource guard, but if he gets something he will eat it fast!
He sleeps in the bed and settles down nicely as long as he is with you. He can not be left unattended yet as he will walk around the house looking for something to chew.
Tiring this boy’s mind is as important as tiring his body, so mind games, scent work would benefit him.
Cypress is good with dog savvy cats, loves people but is still a little too much for young children, is great with other dogs but can be annoying when he still wants to play and they don’t (it doesn’t usually go over well).
