Much like a Brazilian pro soccer player Rio was an athlete, a Canadian sled dog. His life was full of adventure and playing hard but he is looking for a quieter life now that he is retired. He is 63 lbs of sweetheart who loves his head rubbed and is learning belly rubs are awesome too.
While Rio is eager to please, he doesn’t always know how so he would do well with another friendly dog pal to show him the ropes or be an “only child” and soak up all the attention. He’s getting more confident on walks and prefers the quieter trails to streets. He pulls on his lead when he first gets outside but then walks along nicely for the rest of his walks. Rio is an elderly guy whose life as an athlete means he has developed arthritis and is currently on daily medication which helps his comfort level. Rio is coming along with house training but still needs more time to learn as he’s never lived inside before being fostered. At night, Rio sleeps in a crate and as long as he gets outside regularly, he has few accidents in the house. He’s gentle and curious but unsure and needs a family who can give him attention and help build his confidence. He’s good with people and other dogs and is very food motivated!
